As Liverpool, like the rest of the world, is on lockdown we understand many of you are struggling to keep up with your usual fitness routine due to not being able to visit your regular gym and personal trainer. We are however so impressed with those of you who are still managing to work out around the home and garden (if you are lucky enough to have one). Well done to all of you!
For the rest of you we understand it’s difficult but don’t worry you are not alone. If Joe Wicks and Mr Motivator are not getting you away from the fridge and Netflix and you need that extra motivation then two Liverpool fitness professionals might have the answer as they are planning a full day of fun and exciting collaborations completely free on Instagram this Sunday (19 April).
Richie Swan and Harriet Jeffries (The Gym Bird) will be live on Instagram from 8am Sunday morning for a special free stay at home fitness day for all fitness enthusiasts across Liverpool who are looking for motivation to stay healthy and fit during this lockdown period.
Harriet Jeffries and Richie Swan are known for going that extra mile to achieve the best results for their clients, both physically and mentally. They also host the podcast, A Girl and a Gay in the Gym.
Harriet pursued her own weight loss journey losing 4 stone in the process, inspiring many of her close friends, family and followers. Her own transformation inspired her to start a career as a personal trainer help other people reach their fitness goals with her experience and guidance. As a full time mother, Harriet understands the difficulties other mothers have whilst trying to prioritise health and fitness. Harriet describes herself as a spinaholic with a drive to women feel good about themselves, improving their mood, mindset and physical appearance.
Richie discovered his love and passion for helping people reach their own individual goals, whilst working in sales in a small gym. Now a successful personal trainer with years of experience, working at Harriet McGuffie Fitness.
Ritchie is obsessed with weight loss and boasts that one of his clients dropped her dress size from 22 to 12 in 1 year losing 6 stone. Another client won a Guinness World Record for running the fastest marathon in a fancy dress. In addition to his fun and entertaining approach to fitness he has also won Male Personal Trainer of The Year two years running. Ritchie leads classes at Rise Fitness Studios which has become a very popular venue for many fitness driven individuals. Harriet and Ritchie’s classes sell out quickly due to their passion and positive influence on others.
During this lockdown period, Harriet and Richie have offered free support from training videos, dietary advice and mental wellbeing all helping to lift people’s moods across Liverpool and on Sunday they are bringing together some of Liverpool’s best loved experts and brands for one big “Scouse health and fitness day”.
The great thing about this event is you won’t even need to leave your home. With a combined 22+ years of experience in the fitness industry helping 100’s of individuals to change their lives for the better, Harriet and Richie are the prefect pair to get you motivated and feeling on top of the world during these unprecedented times.
Harriet said, “It’s going to be a fun filled inspirational day and we’re excited to be partnering up with Liverpool’s best from both fitness and hospitality.”
Richie added, “We’ve never been more separated so we wanted to create something to bring scousers together to keep us all healthy and sane and observing the government guidelines of social distancing and staying at home.”

11am Pregnancy Fit with Harriet McGuffie
The mastermind behind Liverpool’s Get Pregnancy Fit programme takes you through safe exercises to do during pregnancy, top tips for recovery, and how to work out with your baby at home.
12pm DIY Facial with Rachel Hunter
Liverpool’s skincare expert talks through making a facial peel using just aspirin and water.
1pm Cookalong with Maray
James Bates, co-founder of Maray shows you how to make a nutritious lunch of roasted broccoli with bell peppers & beetroot yoghurt.
2pm Booty & Abs with Sally Louise Fitness
Sally leads a 45-minute fast core-working, bum burning session for when you just can’t face anymore burpees.
3pm Anxiety Q&A with Counsellor Sesmin Ewing
Counsellor Sesmin joins Richie (who is also a life coach) to help if you’re struggling with the lockdown. You can message them live or privately DM on Instagram @GirlGayGym if you’d prefer to stay anonymous.
4pm HITTSTEP with Jase Porter
Jase Porter of Active School League, leads you through this award winning HITT based workout using just a step combined with the most motivating music (don’t worry, they’ll adapt this if you don’t have a step).
5pm Funky Beats Yoga with Ryan Tierney / Meditation with Rachael Currie
A 30-minute yoga session suitable for all levels with Ryan, followed by a 10-minute guided meditation with Rachael.
6pm Cookalong with Gabriella’s Kitchen / Cocktail making with Salt Dog Slims
Gabriella from Woolton favourite Cucina di Vincenzo leads a dinnertime cookalong teaching you how to make a low-calorie pasta dish, with Nick from Salt Dog Slims adding in a low-calorie cocktail lesson.
7pm Live Q&A with Love Island star Gabby Allen
Answering all questions from health and fitness to lifestyle, Gabby will be live sharing her experiences with you.
